Alex was born in Poughkeepsie, New York and was raised in Grafton, Massachusetts. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received his B.S. in Chemistry. At Georgia Tech, he worked under Prof. Will Gutekunst to help develop degradable monomers for ring-opening metathesis polymerizations. Alex joined the Chemistry Department at UChicago in the Fall of 2020 where he is co-advised by Dr. Stuart Rowan and Dr. Scott Snyder.
Alex's research is focused on the development of heterocyclic thia-Michael acceptors for dynamic covalent chemistry and their applications in dynamic materials.
