Han is from Hubei, China. He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Science and Technology of China. He received his PhD degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, under the supervision of Professor van de Ven. His research focused on developing new methods for preparation of nanocellulose materials and exploring their applications. Currently he is in Professor Rowan’s group as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Chicago.
Han is currently researching the preparation and modification of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) from various resources. Han is also interested in applying functionalized CNCs into polymer matrix composites, and investigating their mechanical, thermal, and optical properties.
