Ziyao was born and raised in Beijing, China. He received his BA/MA in chemistry from Brandeis University in 2021. At Brandeis, he worked on nonlinear dynamics and reaction-diffusion system of biological pattern formation under the guidance of Professor Irving Epstein. Ziyao joined the Rowan Group and the Department of Chemistry in Fall 2021.
Ziyao studies synthesis and characterization of bio-inspired, mechanoresponsive materials based on cellulose nanocrystals.
