Diversity & Inclusion

The PME affirms affirms a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive climate, and aims for broad representation, accountability, and participation amongst our collective PME community.

For general resources and information regarding organizations and initiatives advancing the goals of diversity and inclusion in the PME and the broader University, please see Diversity & Inclusion. Postdoctoral researchers interested in joining PME efforts in this area should contact the PME Vice Dean of Diversity & Inclusion.

Diversity and inclusion training for postdoctoral researchers

Postdoctoral researchers can be in the unique position of navigating and leading in diverse environments. In partnership with the Biological Sciences Division, the PME offers a postdoctoral training program in Diversity & Inclusion. The program is offered as a set of eight 1-hour training sessions over the autumn and winter terms. It allows postdoctoral researchers to develop skills and strategies that will position them to become inclusive leaders and mentors and to be able to articulate an D&I philosophy and diversity statement for job applications. Contact Laura Rico-Beck for more information.

University Resource Groups

University Resource Groups (RGs) foster diversity and inclusion by helping create safe and welcoming environments where an individual’s race, ethnicity, gender, levels of ability, religious beliefs, sexual orientation/gender identity, and other important personal attributes are organizational assets. RGs are open to all University of Chicago community members, including faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, residents, and students.
